At “WWE NXT” Battleground, Kelani Jordan made history by becoming the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion. The moment was filled with emotions for both Jordan and her parents.
“It felt amazing to win the NXT Women’s North American Championship,” Jordan shared in a recent interview with “Muscle Memory.” “I remember sitting on top of the ladder, shaking. My hands were trembling, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh.’ It felt so surreal—almost like an out-of-body experience. I was looking around at the fans, realizing, ‘Oh, I just made history.’ It’s hard to explain the moment because I felt like I was in a fever dream; I couldn’t fully process what was happening because I was in shock.”
While Jordan’s initial reaction was one of disbelief, her parents expressed overwhelming pride, with tears in their eyes as they watched their daughter achieve this milestone less than two years into her professional wrestling career. “My mom cries all the time, but my dad never cries,” Jordan noted. “So when I saw my dad crying, I thought, ‘Wow.’ It made me tear up even more because it showed how proud he was, and it was incredible since we grew up watching wrestling together.”
Jordan’s victory at “NXT” Battleground came after an intense ladder match against four fellow “NXT” stars and main roster veteran Michin. In the match’s final moments, Michin clotheslined Sol Ruca out of the ring before turning her focus to Jordan. Jordan ultimately gained the upper hand in their ensuing brawl, allowing her to climb the ladder and retrieve the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
